This Short Maori Korowai with Yellow and Black Feathers and Red Taniko is perfect for birthdays, graduations, unveilings or other ceremonies where it provides the look of a korowai without the full length. It is particularly good for those of Taranaki descent and affiliation to Ngapuhi, due to the yellow iwi colour in the feathers and the red iwi colour in the Taniko.
This korowai, or kahu huruhuru to be exact, is made by a Maori lady of Ngati Porou descent. She learned the art of making korowai from her mother, who learnt the art from a Northland kuia.
It has a Red, Black and White knitted taniko top, with yellow and black feathers below. The black feathers have a jade tinge to them.
If you want different coloured feathers, let us know. You can choose different coloured feathers here.
If you want different coloured taniko, also let us know. You can choose your taniko here.

The taniko has a patiki design, which spiritually means abundance, prosperity, and care of others.
