This beautifully carved Taiaha is Maori made, from swamp totara.
The Taiaha was carved in Northland, New Zealand by a carver of Ngapuhi and Ngati Horahia descent.
He carved a Ngutu Kaka design into the tongue (arepo), representing the wairua (spirit) of the bearer/ owner.
The taiaha measures approximately 157.5cm (62') long, and is adorned with green and black feathers.
